The MAX98357 digital input Class-D audio power amplifier helps designers achieve compact, efficient, and plug-and-play solutions at a high cost-performance ratio. In addition to its small form factor, the device delivers 3.2W of Class-AB amplifier sound quality with Class-D amplifier efficiency, providing excellent high-fidelity audio suitable for a wide range of applications. The MAX98357 Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) and MAX98358 Pulse Density Modulation (PDM) plug-and-play speaker amplifiers fully leverage the flexibility of Maxim's pinout. Compared to typical analog amplifier solutions, this significantly reduces component count, resulting in a substantial reduction in solution size. Since most users control volume digitally, these features allow users to fully utilize Maxim's cost-effective wafer-level package (WLP) without the need for expensive PCBVIA. For superior sound quality, the device employs highly noise-immune digital inputs and offers high jitter tolerance (at least 8dB better than competing solutions). The device also provides excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression, allowing for long-wire speaker connections without the need for external filtering. Furthermore, the device offers industry-leading Class-D efficiency.

Pin Descriptions
LRC: Left/Right clock for 12S and LJ modes. Synchronous clock is used in TDM mode.
BCLK: Bit clock input
DIN: Digital input signal
GAIN: Gain and channel selection. In TDM mode, the gain is fixed at 12dB
SD: Power off and channel selection. Pulling SD MODE low puts the device in the power-off state.
GND: Power ground
VCC: Positive power supply, DC 2.5V-5.5V
