This is a photoelectric sensor that integrates transmission and reception. The detection distance can be adjusted according to requirements. This sensor features long detection distance, low susceptibility to visible light interference, low cost, ease of assembly, and convenient use, and can be widely used in many applications such as robot obstacle avoidance and assembly line piece counting.
When there are no obstacles in front, the output is high. When there is an obstacle, the output (yellow) will change from high to low. There is a potentiometer on the back that adjusts the obstacle detection distance. Once the potentiometer is adjusted (e.g., a distance of 60cm), a low level will be output if an obstacle is within the effective range (e.g., an obstacle at 40cm, an obstacle at 10cm), which is just enough for the microcontroller to recognize.
In the circuit design, a 10K pull-up resistor can be added to the yellow output wire to bring it to 5V before connecting it to the microcontroller for detection, which will result in a more stable circuit. If random detection is used, external hardware interrupts such as INT0 and INT1 of the microcontroller can be used.
