The ESP8266 is a highly integrated chip designed to meet the demands of a new connected world. It provides a complete and standalone Wi-Fi networking solution, allowing it to host applications or offload all Wi-Fi networking functionality from another application processor.
Powerful onboard processing and storage capabilities enable integration with sensors and other application-specific devices via its GPIOs, minimizing upfront development and runtime load. Its high degree of on-chip integration allows for minimal external circuitry; the entire solution, including the front-end module, is designed to occupy a minimal PCB area.
The ESP-12F is an upgraded version of the ESP8266-12, featuring improved peripheral circuitry, a four-layer PCB design, enhanced impedance matching, and superior signal output. Its stability and interference immunity are significantly improved. The PCB antenna has passed professional laboratory testing and is RoHS certified. For those who previously chose the ESP-12, even if their products are already built, the upgraded version is fully compatible with previous firmware versions of the ESP-12, adding six I/O ports and an SPI port, making development easier and more versatile.
